Greek VS. Now
The Greeks’ idea of how to world looked is very different, but in some ways similar to now. An example of how to Greek views were similar to contemporary views, is that there are both continents and sea. On a old Greek map, there was three continents and an ocean than flowed clockwise around the world. In our world there is an ocean surrounding land. Another example, is that their continents have the same names as some of the current continents and countries. The three continents are Europe, Libya, and Asia, which are all names of countries and continents. However, the Greek view is also very different than the contemporary view because they thought that the Earth was flat and circular, while we know that it is round and egg-shaped. The Greeks also thought that the ocean flowed in a constant clockwise direction around all the continents, while we know that the oceans are surrounding land, and flow in various directions. Therefore, even though the views have similarities, they differ in important ways.
