This week in English and Language Arts, we did a lot. We had a really messed up schedule on Thursday and Friday due to the spring concert. I think that we are going to do a horrible job. I do really like the idea of the play, and some of the solos. They play my favorite song in the play, Space Oddity by David Bowie, or in this case Jared Victor. We also have been working a lot on our Student Learning Expectations. My Student Learning Expectation Presentation is about how people are way too dependent on technology. People are also extremely distracted by technology. We also took a test on “Night” by Ellie Wiesel. The book ‘Night” by Ellie Wiesel is about how Ellie survived the Holocaust, and how he lived through it. “Night” by Ellie Wiesel is an extremely sad story in which his entire family dies almost immediately after being shipped to Birkenau-Auschwitz. Only his father, Chlomo survives the Holocaust almost all the way to the end, but dies and is cremated a few months before the war ends. I feel really bad for Ellie, because he has to watch his father suffer and die in front of him. His head was bashed in by an SS officer, because he would not stop talking. The test itself had vocabulary, questions, characters, and quotes for a total of 50 questions. I knew almost every answer very easily, but there were a couple questions I just had no idea about. I re-read most of the book before I took the test so it would be fresh in my head. I think that this was a really good idea, because it allowed me to do well on the test. If I didn’t do this, I think that I would not have gotten a good grade at all.
